It's all in the numbers.

$82.47~ the amount I paid Estee Lauder after having my face: hydrated, moisturized, sheened, bronzed, powered, slated, shimmered, shined, glossed and mascaraed. All to feel a bit better about myself going into the wedding. Hey, at least the face could look like a million bucks right?

$45~ the amount Wonderbread paid for Florsheim shoes on clearance.

3:00PM~ The time in which Wonderbread informed me he needed a new tie.

4:30PM~ The start time of the wedding.

4:10PM~ The time we pulled into the parking ramp.

4:15PM~ the time we glided into the 317 club and took our seats, third row from the front and 4 rows AHEAD of all Jody's family. (Rob was worried we were in the wrong seats, I informed him there was no reserved on it and I couldn't figure out why her family sat so far back?!)

4~the number of times I got choked up over how happy Jod looked. No pictures were allowed during the ceremony, so I never got a shot of her with her veil and dress...

10 minutes~ the length of the service.

This was the first time I'd ever been to a "non-traditional" wedding. Which for me, means not in a church. Here are a few things that made it feel empty.

  1. There was no mention of God.
  2. NOBODY stood when the Bride came down the aisle. I wanted to, but my goal for the evening was NOT to stand OUT, and if I would have stood, I would have been making the statement "here's my scene".
  3. We couldn't hear anything being said up front. Did I mention we were in the third row!

50~ number of times I felt happy to have my wing man with me. Look we match.

7~the number of times I asked "Who are you?" to random people. Great way to start a conversation. They have to interpret what I meant by my question.

18~ the table number we sat at. It was really fun knowing who I was sitting by and them not really knowing me, and telling the story of how I met the Snyders.

4+1+1+1=7~ the number of times I drank vodka, champagne, wine and coffee.

2~the number of pictures I was in on the slide show.

1~ the number of times Wonderbread said his signature phrase "YEEYAH,baby NOW we're TWAKing!" (This comes out any time Wonderbread hears or sees something he likes. In this case it was hearing the Jackson 5 from the DJ)

2~number of songs we danced to.

2.365~the number of hours I worn heels.

1hour~ how long it took to get this picture. Micki, Jody and I.

$11.30~ the amount paid for cocktail number 8, and the one that did me in!

Carolynn, this is for you! It was made special for me by combining Absolut, Peach Schnapps, cranberry and champagne. Pink, SO good, and so very very punishing.
$15.72~the amount paid for one O'Brien special and one bacon cheese burger. (O'Brien special= homemade potato O'Brien scrambled eggs with cheese and two pieces of toast)

11:30PM~ the time we ate our $15.72 meal at Mickey's dinner.

$16.00~ The amount we paid for parking.

13~ the number of times I thought I was going to be sick.

4:15AM~ the time I got up to get some water and ended up in the fetal position on the couch.

6:10AM~ the time I was able to fight back the vomit and make back to bed.

11:03AM~ The time I was finally able to get out of bed.

1:00PM~ the time I could stomach eating food again. Sandwich, from Jimmy Johns.

And the number you are all waiting for: Drum roll please!!!!

ZERO!~the amount of times I was asked if I was pregnant!
After trying on over 35 dresses, and not feeling pretty in any of them I decided to wear one of the pant suits I had bought for a funeral earlier in the spring, there for saving money. The only complaint I have, was getting that darn hook and eye undone as the night wore on. Drinking and hook and eyes don't go well together!

Summary:
I am glad I went. Rob and I had a great time staying away from the family and especially Jod. And by that I mean, we said hello and then mingled with many other guests. We left at the appropriate time, and continued to enjoy the freedom on no children by having a drink in a ritzy bar which led to my need for eggs and hash browns.
I felt comfortable, calm and confident. Things I can not easily fake. Having Rob there meant everything. I'm glad it's over. It just feels like a good place to let go. Thank you for your prayers on this, I don't think I would have felt as calm without them.
