What's new.

I haven't got anything new to add.
No news.
Which, I don't know, is it a good thing?
We got snow last night and all day today.
Oh joy.
It covers the poop right?
Nah, I was just out there two days ago, and since my dog hasn't wanted to brave the out doors in two days...
I'm bored.
There are things I could be doing:
Packing.
Organizing.
Cleaning.

Not one of those things is even tempting.

My birthday is less then a week away.
We are going out to this hibachi place called Osaka. MMMMMM. Can't wait.
I turn 37 this year.
Oi!
I can only hope that my forties will be GREAT!
Cause my twenties were a growing period, of finding out who I was and who I didn't want to be.
And my thirties were a lot like my twenties minus the wrong choices in boyfriends, wrong choices and adding babies and finding out who I am as a mother.
I wish we could stop counting years and start counting experiences.
If you don't have wrinkles, you haven't LIVED.
If you don't find funky new "growths" on your body, you haven't add enough adventure!
If you don't know who the Righteous Brothers are...
You've never been in love and lost that loving feeling.

I got things on my mind, that I just don't feel like giving a chance to be thought about.
Does that make sense?
The pastor at our church came out with a book this past weekend.
It is fantastic.
He is a gifted teacher, and funny sinner. He talks about his failures a lot, and in his failures I see a real man, struggling just as we all struggle and just because he's a pastor, doesn't mean he's above sinning.
(which is a terrible misconception I have. In my mind I think, well they have a direct line to the big man, of course they have super strength.) Boo on me for thinking that.
Anyways he cracks me up. In the second chapter he tells how he out right lies. Really? Pastor?
All for fishing. Now I don't understand why someone would be so enthusiastic about fishing, but this guy is and he's got fish tales to tell.
His wisdom and understanding of the bible draw me in. I want to grab a cup of coffee and cozy up and listen to every word he has to say. If you'd like to see Bob at his best, check out the online messages here. If you'd like to read Bob's new book, find it here.

Poor Butter.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to be posting this.
Butter came home from school Wednesday with a fever of 101.9. I gave her meds, made her soup, called her school to say she wouldn't be in Thursday and then prayed. I prayed that her fever would be gone with a good nights sleep, prayed that she would be all better for her Halloween party at school.
She made it nearly all day Thursday without a temp and no meds. She even took a nap! But around 4:30PM her cheeks became rosy and her head felt hot enough to melt an ice cube. The fever was back. It was then I had to make the call. No school tomorrow, no Halloween party, no wearing her Cinderella costume...
I am thankful there is no cough or sore throat and the fever is mild thus far. It is so hard to see the tears.
She is really really bummed.
She cried "But I drank my "sick drink", I ate my soup, I took my nap."
All things I said would hopefully make her better. It didn't, I couldn't.
I told her that we would get Dairy Queen instead. I also promised to take her treats to school. She keeps asking about going trick or treating, we can only wait and see what tomorrow brings.
On the treat side of things:
I read Lady of Milkweed Manor. (In, like, 3 days!) It is Julie Klassen's first novel. I LOVED it.
When we had met, last week she had asked me to email her and let her know what I thought.
I would post the email but I don't want to ruin the book for any of you curious enough to read it.
It was very good. GREAT ending, not at all what I saw coming. (Which is a good thing)

Julie,
I wanted to tell you I just finished Lady of Milkweed Manor and all I can say is:Shut the front door! It was SOOOOO good.
I really wanted to know WHO left Charlotte in her predicament and HOW she had come to be...
I could relate to having the bitter father and Bea...grrrr.
Then she happened upon Dr. Taylor.
That dastardly Mr. Harris!
Giving up her sweet babe, for a better life even though Mr. Harris was SO awful to even ask!Anne and Lizzette...Dr. Taylor.
OH and Sally struggling with giving the baby something to make him sleep so she could go out...(I was a nanny out east so I could relate to her struggle here, but I was SO happy she made the right choice!)
I was barreling through the last few chapters to see who Charlotte would let love her!!!Heartbreaking that she turned down Dr. Taylor the first time!!! (Thinking she had to be alone the rest of her life.)
OH, how I loved this book!!!! The ending was so perfect, I never saw it coming and I thought she would choose Harris because of her son, but what a way for him/Edmund to return to her!!!!
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!Loved IT!
Thank you so much for writing such a beautiful gift of a story. I am highly anticipating your next one. My husband Rob has asked me NOT to buy it, so that he could get it as a Christmas gift...I told him "No I can't! She is having her release party on Dec 10th!!!!" To which he said "I could go." Yeah, okay Honey, thanks but I'd like to go myself!
Again thank you for meeting me last week, I look forward to seeing you in December.
Love and Blessings,
Sara

Hi Sara,
I enjoyed meeting you, too, and am very glad to hear how much you enjoyed Lady of Milkweed Manor. Your email cracked me up and encouraged me both. I can see why you've taken to blogging; you have a way with words!
I'll look forward to seeing you in December.
Take care and thanks for the good review!
Julie

How cool is THAT?! Well, okay I should get a grip, but I really REALLY liked this book.

Book Giveaway Winner.

I feel like I am riding one of those escalators the wrong way today! You know where you are moving and moving and just not going anywhere?
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Julie Klassen. She was very kind and it was fun to get a chance to talk with her. Though I wish I would have dished more about her book! Nothing like picking the brain of the author who wrote the characters you fell in love with right??
Time was short and I had other things that needed to get done as well before I had to pick my son up from preschool.

Awhile back put this up on my blog. Since I finally got the book signed: I can announce the winner. I've decided that since Lois was the first to comment about the book giveaway I'm going to declare her the winner! Send me your address on email.
YEAH!!!!

Sara's New Clothes

In my last post I told you about this book:

I read my first chapter in it last night before bed. BIG mistake, after that I couldn't sleep. All I could think about was what just happened to my heart. It got WALLOPED.

To give you a clear picture of what happened I'm going to tell you a story, yes this would be the one I sat up and thought about when I should have been sleeping. Had my bed not been warm and cozy I would have written this last night in the dark so nobody could see the tears streaming down my face. Oh convicted heart of mine.

There was a woman named Sara. Sara thought she was a good person. She never stole, or cheated, most of all she hated lies. Sara had transparent skin, she had been hurt many times by people and she had wished her skin were thicker. Sara also had a fragile heart. It began to break when she was a child. When mean words were thrown her way tiny cracks began to appear in her heart, she had to learn to pad it so it wasn't so delicate. As Sara grew older she became more and more comfortable in her thickly covered skin and her padded up heart. She even began to feel pretty, choosing to wear her two favorite colors: Black and White. Never varying the color, it had to be black OR white.

When Sara would go out, she was careful to dress accordingly. Putting on her most padded undergarments, her best sarcasm sweater, in black, Her crisp white perfectly spotless slacks and her shiny, flat I can sure run in these, walk carefully on egg-shell, ballet slippers.

She would coif her hair and attend to her make-up, putting everything in "look at me, like me, please don't hurt" perfection.

One day Sara was walking down the street. This particular day Sara was feeling quiet proud of herself, she was finally walking down a busy street she had always wanted to go but was concerned about all the other people and would they think she wasn't right to walk down their street. But Sara was confidant she had chosen the right outfit to fit in. The right style.

Sara stopped to check her reflection in a store window. An instant of doubt popped into her head. She blew it away with one breath, no I can DO this! She told herself. Her confidence boosted she turned to walk on down the brilliant street. Suddenly Sara was bumped to the ground falling hard on her nice crisp white slacks, that were now no longer spotless.

Anger rose up inside her, who the the world would run into her, hadn't they seen her standing there? After all she was perfectly dressed, looking perfectly normal.

She looked up, at first she thought she saw a stern, angered young man standing with his arm out ready to cast her aside.

As she gulped back her anger, she realized he was holding out his hand to her. This made the anger rise again.

"I don't need your help thank you." She replied, taking stock in her soiled pants.

The hand remained out stretched. Looking up again she saw he wasn't stern, she saw compassion, she saw kindness, empathy.

She reached out for his hand, not because she really wanted to, but because she was now worried how this would look to others passing by.

"Are you hurt?" The man kindly asked.

Sara was shocked at the emotion in his voice, she could only stare at her soiled pants and think, my pants are ruined. Now I will have to start all over again.

He seemed to notice her concern over her pants.

"I will pay to have that cleaned." He said gently.

Sara looked up at him, thinking darn right you will! But then something in his eyes changed her anger into sadness. She thought, why should someone else pay for my mistake? I should have wore black pants today, they hide the blemishes better.

Before she could answer or think, the man was leading her up the street. Sara tried and tried to tell him "No, I just came that way! I don't want to go back! I want to go forward!"

All the while he was listening to her, when finally she dug in her feet and began crying.

"Don't you understand I don't WANT to go back. I just got these new clothes I was going somewhere ELSE, not back."

He noticed her sweater had pulled away from her arm, exposing her thin skin. When Sara realized he could see it, she quickly made to cover it.

"No, please don't. I think it's beautiful. I can see how wonderfully you are made."

A warm comfort fell over her at his words. She decided to tell him about her padded heart too.

"You see, I have to pad it or it will break into a thousand pieces and I will have no strength left."

He looked into her eyes and said "I will be your strength."

Sara felt strength move through her body, starting at her heart and growing outward toward her limbs. It wasn't like a super-hero strength, but a new firmness in her muscles.

Again she looked into the man's eyes, this time there was a generosity there.

"My clothes are ruined." She said sadly.

"I will give you clean new clothes."

Sara could not believe her ears. A stranger was offering to buy her new clean clothes, all because of her own clumsiness.

He led her past all the fancy boutiques, each one looking more tempting then the last, but he led her on, until they came to a faded little shop that looked as if it had seen better days. The windows were grimy, nothing looked appealing about this place. What could she possibly find in this dump to wear? Sara was beginning to have doubts again. Her flesh began to feel itchy, tight and cold.

"Do you not want something new to wear to replace the old?" His face was warm, caring. He held the door open for her.

Sara got a whiff from inside, it reminded her of a warm fire, of her favorite meal, of a piece of melt-y chocolate. She went inside. It was a kaleidoscope of color. All different shapes, sizes and textures. He seemed to be leading her over to a particular rack. As Sara looked around she realized she didn't see many things that were black or white.

He held out a new sweater, it was a light shade of blue.

"To match the subtle shade in your eyes." He smiled.

"But I only wear black and white." She said softly.

"Try this, I promise this was made just for you."

Sara went to try it on, she was met by a woman who looked like she had never seen the outside world. Her hair was a mess, her garments were ratty and she was covered with dirt.

"Let me help you miss." She said sweetly, not feeling the least bit conscious of her own clothing.

She held out her hand for Sara's old sweater and just before she handed her the new one, she held out the prettiest pink bra, which was very much NOT padded.

"Oh, I can't wear that! It has no padding." Sara exclaimed.

"But it will make you feel so much prettier then that bulky thing. Let me have that," She said pointing to Sara's old bra. "You take this one." Handing her the new one. The tag said

brand: Holy Spirit, model: Truth

"It's the HST bra! It's our most popular." the woman grinned.

When Sara put it on she was amazed how pretty she looked and felt. She turned smiling to the woman. Sara noticed that the woman's hair looked softer, straighter some how.

"You're right! I do feel a little more pretty. I feel lighter too."

"Ready for the sweater?"

Sara nodded, as she pulled the new sweater on she was impressed by how soft it was. It felt so good against her skin.

The woman gave a shake as she took the old sweater.

"Ooh, that one was quite rough on the skin wouldn't you say?"

Sara again looked at the woman and noticed her dress looked cleaner somehow, and her hair had definitely gotten more sleek.

"Not quite finished." she said darting off and then back again.

She held out a pair of jeans.

"Oh, I don't wear jeans. Too tight, to form fitting."

"These are tailored. Special fit. Just your size."

Sara couldn't imagine how those tiny jeans were going to fit her thighs and round bottom. When she slipped her one leg in the fit was surprising good. Then the other leg, she was sure the zipper would not zip. But then it did. No pulling, no sucking in, no laying on the floor trying to heave it up. There was no gap in the back either. They were the perfect fit.

"What ARE these jeans?" She called out admiring herself in the mirror.

The woman looked at her and smiled "Well we here call them a Touch of Grace. Doesn't matter what kind of body you have these one jeans fit everyone."

Sara smiled at the woman, she noticed the dirt was now gone and the woman looked stunning standing in front of her.

"Thank you for your help..." Sara realized she didn't know the woman's name. She looked at her name tag that she just noticed it read Hope.

"Thank you for your help Hope."

The woman smiled and then walked away. Sara walked back out to see the man again.

"You were right, the sweater fits, it's so much softer and more comfortable then the one I had. She noticed he was leaning on the rack where he had pulled it from. The sign on the rack said

Sweaters of Love.

She glanced around and started reading the other racks.

Sweaters of Joy

Sweaters of Peace

Sweaters of Patience

Sweaters of Kindness

Sweaters of Goodness

Sweaters of Faithfulness

Sweaters of Gentleness

And Sweaters of Self-control.

The man was watching her carefully. When Sara turned back to him he asked

"Do you see another one that catches your eye?"

Sara hugged her new sweater, she couldn't imagine one of the other sweaters feeling quite as good as the love one.
"It's okay, you can choose another one next time. This one brings out your eyes."

As they approached the counter the man selected a necklace from the case.

Sara looked at it, it was much to expensive for her to wear. He held it out to her. She wouldn't take it.

"I can't except that! It's much too expensive."
"But it's a gift!" He said.

Sara took it gently from his hand, she thought it would feel heavy around her neck, look too gaudy. The tag read MERCY.

Sara was afraid to put it on. He nodded to her.

Sara was surprised at how light it felt, it wasn't too heavy. It made her cry to look at it.

"Everyone deserves Mercy." He said to her.

"Thank you." was all she could say.

Just before they were to go a short woman came back out with a pile of clothes. She handed the clothes to Sara.

"What is this?" Sara asked

"They are your old clothes. Cleaned and pressed. Good as new." She said.

Sara looked at her name tag, it read: Forgiveness.

Sara looked from the man to the woman.

"You cleaned these?" Sara asked.

The man answered winking, "Amazing what a little Forgiveness can do."

"Don't you want your old things back?" Forgiveness asked.

Sara looked at the clothes, they were so plain, so white and so black and sweater was kinda itchy and tight.

"Can I trade them in for something else?" She asked.

The woman looked to the man who nodded. Excitement filled Sara's heart.

"Which one should I choose?" She asked moving from one rack to the next.

The man was at her side as she looked.

"Well that depends on where you will be going I suppose."

Sara was watching him.

"You picked this one, Why don't you choose again. You seem to have good taste."

This time he held one up, Sara looked shocked. The color was all off. She had never liked that color before. She pulled one from the rack next to her that said Sweaters of Goodness.

"I like this one." She said ignoring his choice.

Hope was standing there now, hands on her hips, shaking her head.

"They always try to go for the goodness next don't they Lord?"

He laughed at her observation.

"Have I not chosen well the first time Sara?" He asked.

Sara was struck at how gentle yet convicting his words were..

Then she realized Hope had called him Lord. Who was this man? Sara suddenly felt self-conscious again. She felt panic rise in her. Her hand shot up to her neck and felt the steady weight of her necklace of Mercy. Her arms felt down to her sweater of love and then into her pockets of her Grace Jeans.

"No, you have chosen well." She looked at the rack he was standing near again. She felt disappointed. It said Sweaters of Self-control.

Hope came forward and made a suggestion.

"Perhaps Lord, you may try one from that rack over there? It may not be so shocking. After all this is her first time visiting."

Sara smiled at her, she noticed the rack Hope had mentioned and it wasn't as bold as the rack he had first chosen.

He reached out and grabbed one from the rack of Sweaters of Patience.

"Now with that one you will have to wear it a while before you get used to the fit. Sometimes it shrinks in the wash. But every time you wear it you'll be surprised at how content you are in it." Hope said taking the sweater.

Sara noticed all of Hope's clothes sparkled. Not a speck of dirt was on her face.

"How does Love feel?" He asked her.

Sara couldn't deny it felt good to wear Love. She had a feeling he had more to say, maybe that she hadn't been so loving to those around her.

"Now you are to put off all of these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him. Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful."
(Colossians 3:8-10.12-15)

"So we must act like we love someone? I am suppose to pretend to like someone? Isn't it wrong to be deceptive and two-faced? Don't I need to be honest with my feelings?" Sara asked.

"Let the peace of God rule your heart. *The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind.I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be." (*Jeremiah 17:9-10)
Hope handed Sara her bag, saying "Choosing the truth of God's Word and acting in a loving manner, even when our own feelings may mock us, is the right thing to do. When we reject the temptation to trust in own fickle feelings and, instead, trust in Christ's heart, then we will be rewarded for that act of faith." (*note* this paragraph was taken from TMILD book Chapter 1)

Sara's heart sprang open, not with pain but with regret. How could she have gotten it so wrong?

The man led her outside. Sara turned back to look at the store. It looked nothing like it had when she first saw it. It was now covered with richly colored bricks, the windows were spotless and she could see into the store. The sign that hung outside read: Fruits of the Spirit.

A sign in the window read: All who are thirsty WELCOME.

No money, we take good deeds.

That made Sara laugh.

He noticed her giggle.

"That gets me every time too."

He led her down the street. Sara enjoyed walking with him. The longer she was near him, she felt her fear and hurt fade away. She noticed her skin had a thicker appearance.

Sara was about to take a step when she realized it was the exact spot where she had run into him. There on the ground was a hole that was full of muck.

"What is that?" She asked

"That would be a puddle of lies."

She looked down into it. It was gross and smelly. It looked like it would never come off if you got it on you.

"You'd be surprised how many people fall into it." He said matter of fact.

Sara noticed the store they were in front of, it was where they had met. She had been feeling rather good about herself before falling into the puddle.

The store was called Pride.

Sara made a face. She didn't want to go in there after all. She looked down the street, where she had been heading. It didn't look so appealing anymore.

"What's down that way?"

"The way you were headed?"

"Yes."

"Oh, that's the city of Deceit. Rather lonely place."

"But it looked so..." She stopped herself "Hey, I see things differently. Since I went into that shop..."

"Yes, I do have that affect on people." He smiled warmly. " I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. " (John 12:46NIV)

She took one last look up the road.

"I do not want to go that way anymore." She said.

He turned to her and said:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid;when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet." (Proverbs 3:5-6,23-24)

With that he was gone. Sara looked around, trying to determine which way she should go. She decided she would return the way she had come, feeling the peace her new clothes offered her.

Book Review: The Apothecary's Daughter and Giveaway!

I read book reviews every Sunday in our paper. Last spring they featured two local authors and the books they had coming out. Both sounded interesting to me, I cut the piece out determined to look for the books. I started checking out materials from the library again, and not just books for my children. Audio books for my husband and books for myself. Would it be possible to to read a book with a due date. Thank goodness I bought the Shack because that one is collecting dust under my bed with a book mark on page 38, chances are it will never be read.

I decided to read the "other" book first. It wasn't a period piece. They tend to scare me. I am a visual person I need to be able to see things and sometimes the details in period pieces are just too overwhelming or just not enough for my brain to reconstruct. So I went with the current day book. I didn't like it. The ending was happy enough, but the entire book did not mesh with the ending. It felt like she had a deadline and was like okay hurry up and finish it already. I was very disappointed. Half way through the book I was telling a friend that I had a feeling it wasn't going to end well and if that were the case I was going to throw said book out the window. The ending I saw coming did not come to past. The ending I was hoping for didn't either. The book was safely returned to the library. That is when my hopes were all but dashed about reading the other local author. I mean, come on, I couldn't engage with current times, how would this one draw me in?

Oh how wrong I was.

Yep, admitting I'm wrong here. Go ahead, mark the date. I was wrong.

The Apothecary's Daughter was genuine. I found myself captivated by Miss Lillian Haswell. I could see her clearly, I could relate to her struggle, even though we were separated by 200 years. She is the classic smart girl, who must depend not on her looks and yet not be run by her heart. She is loyal, loving and independant. She is also heart broken and longing for answers.

With each new character introduced I kept thinking how will they impact Lilly. What will their role in the story be. I just loved the complicated levels of the story and yet how very simple this it was to follow. It was a very satisfying read. The end wasn't surprising, it was delightful. It could have ended many ways, I could imagine them all. A delightful end. Not perfect, not "happy" but neatly tied into a delightful bow ending.

I am always curious how authors get their ideas. I went to Julie Klassen's website. She is dedicated to her research and the details of her characters. Which I love. As I've been writing I One Summer's Past, I have also been researching. Early on, Kate was a feeling, a memory. Kate is no longer a version of me, she is someone completely separate, yet still apart of me.
I can not wait to see where that leads.

I plan to read Julie Klassen's first book very soon. I also plan to buy each of them, because I good book is worth having.

Yesterday, if you'll recall I compared myself to Oprah. I have not had a give-away in some time.

And seeing as I met most of you a year ago at I See What You're Saying carnival and I MISSED that blog- versary. I'm going to make it up to you.

If you would like to win a copy of Julie Klassen's Book The Apothecary's Daughter, just grab a button, come back and tell me you're linked up and I'll put your name in. Don't forget to tell them to mention your blog. If someone stops by from your link you'll get another chance. The more people you tell the more chances you'll get. I'll draw the winning name Next Tuesday. To make it even better I'm going to throw in a $10 Starbucks Giftcard, That's like 3 pumpkin spice lattes! Since I'm on a roll, I'm going to throw in a pair of fuzzy socks! How sweet is that. Warm coffee, a good read and toasty feet? Or you can skip the fuzzy socks and leave them for me, since half of you live in the south!
It feels so good to give stuff away, now I know why Oprah gets so excited!

Call Me Crazy & Spooky

I know, you can call me crazy, My friend Pollie does. Ok she never said crazy, she just said I'm making her look bad. She's my Stampin' Up demonstrator extraordinaire. And she has only just ordered out of the new holiday mini. (comes out to the rest of us Oct.1) I completed my Christmas cards. I'm a stamper/scrapper and I am a little obsessive. I got some beautiful designer series paper (Last years' model from Pollie's open house) , and had a stamp set to use and paper to complete the project sooooo... Now all I have to do is sit and wait for the perfect family picture to go in them and Dec. 12 to roll around...It's a sickness. I know. Yet can you believe I am a year and a half behind in my children's scrapbooks? Oh yes. But for arguments sake Scrap booking takes a whole lot more time, energy and creativity than I haven't had lately. I actually get depressed when I look at the bins full of pictures. Maybe that's why I like blogging so much.
Just to give myself a little break I did craft a small fall-ish item I used some left-over fall paper, stamped a few images added a ribbon. There you have it. Beautiful Fall all framed up.

Also I have to give a WAY TO GO! To my Nicky. He is doing so well with his potty training. twice now he has gone poopy in the potty with no help and no messes! (See 'Grossed out; blog)
because He has had NO accidents or messes he got to do his favorite thing on his new favorite thing. He got to paint a skeleton!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOO!

This is Fred McFee. The book we borrowed from our library. It's a book about Two children that win a skeleton in a carnival, they name him Fred McFee and hang him in their sycamore tree for Halloween. It's spooky fun. Roo liked it so much it's his story of choice every night. We were at the craft store and he saw the little skeleton guy. "Mommy, it's Fred!" So I bought Roo some paint and told him if he makes poopy in the potty he can paint Fred. Not only did he paint Fred. It's glow in the dark paint!
How cool is that? I know it's not the greatest picture but you try taking a picture of glow in the dark paint without a flash! It's tricky stuff.

I realize I've been heavy on the Roo stuff and light on Butter. She is busy with school and when she's not at school she's playing school. They are learning bus safety. Today she came right home collected all her horses and Roo's F.P. Little people Bus and was teaching her horses bus safety! I should have got a picture! I'll try later. But whenever I bring out the camera she likes to "pose". Have a great Tuesday.

Do you have a favorite Halloween book or story?

Let me know.

Uncommon

For some reason this week seems to be dragging on. Maybe it's me or the heat or the house being closed up. Whatever it is I've been stressed and frustrated. The kids are MONKEYS! climbing and running and jumping all over the place. When all I feel like is curling up in a ball and having quiet. I have been stressed about my CT scan. The lesion on my liver is gone. Which makes my mind race, "Where did it go?" "Was there really one there in the first place?" Oh well I should be happy right? I am for that. But it also showed I have a kidney stone. Oh Great! After talking to my dear friend Pollie, I am feeling better about that too. So now I'm on a quest to drink 64 oz of water a day. (Plus the glasses of tea, coffee and milk I have with meals)
I have been reading Susie Larson's Uncommon Woman. I thought the very beginning of it was so great so I made a frame to remind myself just how: Remarkable, Extraordinary, Exceptional, Unearthly, Singular, Significant, Special, Minding-blowing...Uncommon I AM. (and you are too!)

Bloomin' right

They grow up so fast don't they? Those tiny fingers and toes turn into instruments used to play, paint, grab and sometimes in the weak moments inflict pain to a sibling who won't stop bugging them.

Butter is my mini mama. She loves being bossy. She loves "telling" Roo all about what she knows. And at 5 she know it all. Although it's cloudy today and she was doing a good job telling us where rain comes from..."The cloud suck up the water from the ground and when the clouds are full God makes it rain..."

Roo is a liner-upper. Cars, trucks, rocks. He lines them all up. They both love to draw and paint. They made sunflowers at VBC.

Butter had to point out to Roo that her flower looked like it's suppose too, with seeds in the middle. I don't know I kinda like that Roo's is all smeared together It reminds me when you stare at something long enough it blurs together.

Regardless, they are both special. And exactly the way that God meant them to be. Butter is particular and observant. Roo is see it, be it, do it, done. So different and so unique. Just like the flowers they made. Just how God's flowers are. Blooming just right...in God's hand and time.

Today I plan to work on my study and go pick up a new book, since I finished the one I was reading with all this "ME" time. OH, how I love this free time. (I've been crock pot cooking too. So I save time in the evening.) Here are a few books I recommend.

Susie is so gifted at reaching out to a women's heart. And just a warning Firefly Line will have you bawling your eyes out, laughing till you gut hurts and taking you back to training bras and mad crushes. Enjoy!
