It's Wednesday, which means another helping of Random! Link up with Linda!.
1. What is your favorite Mexican dish?
Enrique Iglesias. "Baby I like it! I I I like it!" Oh sorry he isn't Mexican...guacamole. Minnesota guacamole. Does that count?
2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate?
You mean like after school or after after school snack? Or did you mean after chores? Wait what was the question again? Yes, yes I liked when school was over!
4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?
hmmm, not in elementary school so much, I'm not sure if it was because the food was gloppy or we were too poor for lunches...but high school was awesome; slushies, malts, soft pretzels, cheese bread. I never ate the lunchline stuff. That stuff looked gross too.
5. Is religion a crutch?
When did it break? At least it's not wheel bound yet!
Honestly, I don't know how to answer this, somebody who paid better attention in social studies should answer this one.
6. In your region, what is the "big" (most popular in the community or state) high school sport?
Well, we call ourselves the state of hockey...
7. Do you consider yourself rich?
NOPE. Rich to me means you can afford to give to charities, there are times I feel WE should be that charity! Living from paycheck to check sucks, and sometimes we have to live paycheck to the paycheck AFTER that paycheck! Do I have a car? yes does it need new tires? Have a bumper held on with duct tape and a crack in the back light? Yes, it has that too. Do I have a bed to sleep in? Yes I do but this body would sleep so much better in a sleep number. GOD has blessed me. I was born in America. Do I feel rich? No, I feel blessed.
8. Which of these would you have the best chance for success in administering:
A) CPR ~ I'd worry about performance anxiety
B) Heimlich Maneuver ~I've actually done this one. I was 17, had JUST done the unit in school and was at Perkins when straight out of one of those cheesy filmstrips somebody yells "Oh my God he's choking!" I turn to see an old man turning blue NOBODY is rushing to help, the wait staff are looking at one another, finally I get mad enough to get up walk over lean over the booth and lift this guy twice my size out of the booth as I'm giving him the Heimlich. Two thrust and the food comes flying out, shoots across the room. The people he's with start making a scene about how grateful they are to me and what a hero I am, the paramedics show up and come talk to me. I was SO embarrassed and mad at how dumb everyone else was, they work in the food industry NOBODY knew how to do the Heimlich? Sheesh, let the 17 tiny girl do it in a BOOTH no less! I just wanted to have a normal date with the guy I liked! He did tell me he was impressed though. I think it was because I got us free meals out of it. Any who, that's as close as I want to get to being a Doctor!
C) Changing a flat tire ~yes I can. But I will choose not to! Tire grease is AWFUL to get off your fingers and from under your nails! My children will both be taught also.
9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:
A) Salsa ~ I've been salsa dancing: both with someone who had skills and someone who did not. Skilled is SO much better, the are better leaders and make you look like a pro!
B) Hip Hop ~Yes, it would be fun to learn that booty shake thing...and NOT look STUPID doing it!
C) Waltz ~ We had a dancing unit in gym in High school where we learned this and a few others, it was fun. Pairing up sucked...but I did end up getting partnered with a really cute guy for the finals and he had NO choice but to do his best, if he failed the class he couldn't play hockey and I was COMMITTED to being the best, which took a lot of practise ;)
D) Swing ~Same as Salsa. Danced with a skilled partner it is a BLAST. Otherwise someone will end up in the emergency room!
10. What's the worst news you've ever delivered to someone?
That I was pregnant, when a girlfriend was in her third year of trying...
11. Name something you learned in college that had nothing to do with classes or academics.
I didn't go to college, I did go to a two year school though. I learned the cliques continue and that life for me was more about the people I chose to share it with then what I did for a living and how much money I made doing it.
12. New variation on an old question: If there's a song in your head that just won't get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?
I find that I will put/sing lyrics into everyday sayings if they apply. Example: My husband will ask which way he needs to turn or where to find something: To the left to the left (everything you own is in a box to your left) Irreplaceable ~Beyounce
Example: If I make a comment and someone says "What's that got to do with it?" I reply What's love got to do; got to do with it?
I find that Gaga/Beyounce/Blackeyedpeas songs get locked in the most they have such catchy hooks!
Great answers! #1 was a hoot!
ReplyDeleteHm....I have a tendency to answer questions with song snippets, too, much to the annoyance of other folks in the house.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers!
LOVED your comment about religion/crutch!
ReplyDeleteWell I almost said Single Ladies for my song...that's been bouncing around my head ever since i read a lyric from the song on a facebook status. It drives my kids nuts when i start singing it...it does tend to stick.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way as you for #12. My family gets so annoyed, to the point my daughter asked if I could go a week without singing.
ReplyDelete"Minnesota guacamole" LOVE IT! I am from northern MN originally, and have been reading your blog for a long time. Thanks for giving me a taste of home once again!
ReplyDeleteI Love hockey. A lot of the hich school kids play professionally, but the school teams aren't watched here. (other than by a couple parents)
ReplyDeleteI love your answers, Sara. You can always make me smile!
ReplyDeleteOh, the Heimlich...my brother had to do it on ME a few Christmases ago {I chocked on a piece of meat}. Happy to know it works!
